Overview |
Opportunities
abound in Mobile Game Development with companies like Alltel,
Cellular One, Bell South, Midwest Wireless, Moviecom, US
Cellular, Verizon, Nokia, Panasonic, Sharp, Kyocera and the
list goes on and on and on! This program will provide insight
into the programming of instant messaging, email, smart navigation,
Office applications synched up to go mobile, photo and video
sharing, late-breaking information, and, yes, games!
BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) is Qualcomm's solution
to creating and distributing games for cell phones. The course will
use the BREW Software Development Kit to create a video game that
runs on the BREW cell phone emulator. The emphasis in this course
will be on coding techniques.
Object Oriented Design will be used to abstract the input, display,
and sound from the game logic and physics. This approach makes it
easier to adapt the game to the variety of hardware that exists in
the mobile gaming environment. It also makes it easier to port the
game to Java or other environments.
A multiplayer game will be created using TCP/IP connections through
a server to several client cell phones. |
